About MASK
The Marine Aquarium Society of Kitchener was formed November 2001,
in order to bring together marine hobbyists from the Golden Triangle
(Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge) and surrounding areas. Many hobbyists
located west of Toronto were often unable to attend meetings for MAST
(Marine Aquarium Society of Toronto) due to the distances involved;
so it is that MASK has come to be. As MASK is a sister club to MAST,
The purpose of MASK is much the same:
MASK seeks to assist new hobbyists with responsible, ethical
advice as well as to promote positive public understanding of the
hobby. To educate wherever possible, focusing on reef conservation,
responsible and sustainable collection practices and aquarium cultivation.
Gathering people together with a common interest has always been one
of the best ways to share information and discuss both current and past
issues in a common forum. We hope that MASK will provide this forum
for everyone interested in the marine aquarium hobby. Please feel free
to browse the site. We welcome constructive feedback regarding the site
and the club. MASK meetings are held on the third Thursday of every
month. Please
e-mail MASK if you require any further information.
The Marine Aquarium Society of Kitchener would
like to recognize the efforts of Scott MacGregor and Wendy Irving in
starting the club. Sadly, due to increasing demands on their time,
they are no longer able to participate but we wish them the best and
hope that they may become active members again in the near future.
